Avfuel Training System

The Avfuel Training System is run by Avfuel Corporation, the family-owned aviation fuel supplier founded in 1973 with its corporate office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is listed separately under Fuel Suppliers. The portal is linked from avfuel.com and is open only to Avfuel customers: its FAQ says companies are verified as customers when they register and that subscription fees are billed to the Avfuel fuel account. Avfuel also holds three in-person seminars a year in the US that award an FAA-approved Part 139 supervisory fuel-safety certificate.

Avfuel describes the system as 39 lessons, 39 downloadable resources and six programs. The FAA-approved Part 139 Line Service Fuel Safety course meets 14 CFR 139.321(b)(1) through (b)(7) and can support the recurrent training required under (e)(2); the Supervisory Fuel Safety course is accepted for supervisor certification under (e)(1). Both cover fire safety, fuels and additives, FSII, contaminants and testing, receiving fuel, fueling components, storage, mobile refuelers and record-keeping, with an 80% pass mark and a certificate. Subscriptions add ramp safety (towing, marshalling and deicing), DEF contamination prevention, customer service, network loyalty and sales and leadership lessons.

Prices are published on avfueltraining.com: the line fuel-safety subscription costs $750 the first year and $300 a year after, and the supervisory subscription costs $1,250 and then $500 a year; both include unlimited seats. General fuel-safety lessons without a certificate are free to Avfuel customers. Avfuel leaves training frequency to FAA Advisory Circular 150/5230-4B and the local authority having jurisdiction, and completion certificates are emailed to the student and the account administrators.
