Baldwin Safety & Compliance

Baldwin Safety & Compliance, Inc. was set up in 2004 by Don and Nancy Baldwin on the idea that small flight departments should get the same safety-management resources as large multinational operators; the founders retired in May 2024. Baldwin is now one of the products of Portside, an aviation software company whose about page lists Baldwin alongside its Avianis, BART, PFM and FOS scheduling systems, and the Baldwin site's footer carries a Portside copyright. Portside says its products support more than 15,000 aircraft in over 40 countries. Neither site gives a street address for the Baldwin team.

For FBOs, the core product is BaldwinSMS, sold in a Baldwin LITE tier (hazard log, safety reports and risk assessments, safety performance indicators, an internal evaluation program and five forms) and a Baldwin Advanced tier that adds an audit manager, required-read bulletins, a status board, scheduling and integrations. Baldwin's MRO and FBO page describes building one organization-wide SMS across a multi-department operation and says it supports companies pursuing IS-BAH or IS-BAO registration. Portside's Baldwin SMS page lists FBOs and ground operators among the operations it is designed for. Online courses, from frontline topics to safety-manager programs, run through BaldwinVirtualTraining.com, and Baldwin also writes manuals and runs a safety culture survey.

Baldwin quotes each tier on request and does not publish pricing; extra forms and features are sold a la carte. The site stresses that credentialed safety staff are on call around the clock during and after implementation, and it names integrations with Airplane Manager, BART, ForeFlight Dispatch, PFM, Tripplanning.biz, Okta, PingFederate, Azure and NASA ASRS. Its published testimonials come from an IS-BAO auditor, a safety manager and a director of safety rather than from named FBO clients.
