BWI Aviation Insurance Agency, Inc. has been in aviation insurance since 1977 and describes itself as family owned. Its contact page lists an office on California Avenue in Corona, California and a second on Aircraft Drive in Anchorage, Alaska. The agency says it introduced the first Robinson helicopter insurance program in 1979, developed a Cessna 180 and 185 program in the 1980s, and now counts more than 10,000 pilots as clients. Most of its business is aircraft owners and operators, from gliders and experimental aircraft to turbine jets.

BWI's commercial lines include airport liability, hangarkeepers liability, aviation products liability, aircraft maintenance and mechanic coverage, aviation professional liability, aviation workers' compensation, charter, flight school and flying club insurance. Its airport liability page is written for airports and FBOs and describes coverage for injuries to third parties and passengers on airport property, property damage, and legal defense costs and settlements.
