Clariant (Safewing)

Safewing is the aircraft deicing and anti-icing range of Clariant's Care Chemicals business (Muttenz, Switzerland; 10,281 staff and 73 production sites in 2025), which calls itself one of the largest makers of deicing fluids with over 40 years in the field. The Type I products are propylene-glycol MP I LFD 80, MP I LFD 88 (LOUT −33 °C / −27 °F, two-year shelf life) and MP I LFD PLUS 88, qualified to AMS1424 and ISO 11075; MP II FLIGHT is the Type II and MP IV LAUNCH and LAUNCH PLUS the Type IV fluids (AMS1428, ISO 11078). Safeway KA HOT, KF and SF are the acetate and formate runway deicers, and a recycling program has supplied Scandinavia with Type I made from up to 70% recovered glycol since 2011 (Uddevalla plant).

Clariant's US pages offer quotes and samples but name no distributor, plant or packaging, and some products show "not available in your region" from the US. In practice the Safewing names reach US FBOs through resellers: D.W. Davies in Racine and Aircraft Deicing Inc. both sell Safewing MP I LFD 88 (concentrate and 55/45 RTU) and MP4 Launch in 5-gallon pails, drums and totes.
