DYE | NBA Aviation was created when Atlanta-based architecture firm Niles Bolton Associates acquired Dye Aviation Facilities Architecture and set it up as a subsidiary. It lists its office on Peachtree Road NW in Atlanta and says the team has provided transportation design and construction management services since 1975, and has designed, developed and even owned FBOs for more than 25 years, with projects across the US and into the Caribbean. W. Mercer Dye, Jr. is president of the aviation group and Cannon Reynolds is principal and managing director; the team includes interior designers and landscape architects.

The portfolio is organized around three building types. FBO and executive terminals include Atlantic Aviation at Nashville, Boca Raton, Charleston, Birmingham and DeKalb-Peachtree, Tampa International Jet Center (a 12,000 sq ft terminal, a 10,000 sq ft arrival canopy and 60,000 sq ft of MRO and storage hangars), Miami-Opa Locka Executive, Franklin Mountain Aviation in El Paso, Kona Jet Center and Hangar 10 at MKC, plus an FBO study at Hartsfield-Jackson. Flight department work includes corporate hangars at PDK, FTY, Fairhope and Orlando, and hangar work includes Sky Harbour at Deer Valley, Addison, Nashville and Centennial.

Services cover architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and planning, and the firm has served as construction manager at Tampa and as owner's representative and design and construction manager at Opa-locka. It says it knows the NFPA 409 hangar standard well enough to design hangars with low or no fire-suppression cost, which it says can otherwise add more than 50 percent to a hangar's price.
