FlightAware

FlightAware is a flight tracking and data company founded in 2005 and owned by Collins Aerospace since 2021. It receives data from air traffic control systems in more than 45 countries and sells tracking, analytics and decision tools to aircraft operators, service providers and passengers. For FBOs, its two relevant products are FlightAware TV and FBO Toolbox.

FlightAware TV turns an ordinary HDTV into a live display. The airport version maps aircraft arriving at and departing from a chosen airport, general aviation, airline or both, with an arrivals and departures board beside the map and weather radar behind it. The fleet version lists the tails in a My FlightAware account with past and upcoming flights. It runs in a browser on a computer connected to a 1080p or 4K screen, so no proprietary hardware is involved, and the same view can be shown at multiple locations at no extra charge.

The FBO is expected to supply its own screen and computer. FBO Toolbox pricing starts at $110 per airport per month with one HDTV airport map included and a one-week free trial. FlightAware is a data subscription, not an ad network: it does not publish a screen count, an advertising program or a revenue share, and Signature Flight Support announced in 2019 that it would deploy FBO Toolbox across its network.
