Hartzell Preheat

Hartzell Preheat combines Tanis Aircraft Products (founded 1974) and Reiff Preheat Systems (in piston preheat since the early 1980s) under Hartzell Propeller, with manufacturing at 5465 West SR-185 and administration at 1 Propeller Place in Piqua, Ohio; both brand names are still used, and the September 2026 release describing the all-inclusive STC-with-PMA kit for every Daher TBM 700-series turboprop still calls it "Tanis Aircraft Products, a division of Hartzell Propeller". An Airbus H135 helicopter preconditioning kit was approved in March 2025.

Tanis kits are multi-point systems for piston engines (Austro, Continental, Lycoming, Rotax, Jabiru, Jacobs, Pratt & Whitney), turbines (ATR, Beech, Cessna, Kodiak, Pilatus, Piper, TBM), rotor-wing (Airbus, Bell, Robinson), avionics and cabin heat and battery heat, under STC and PMA in 115-V and 230-V versions. Reiff is the modular piston alternative: Standard (50 W per cylinder band, 100-W sump pad) and XP (100/200 W) systems plus HotStrip sump heaters, FAA-PMA PQ2040CE, which its FAQ says need no STC or Form 337 on US aircraft and sell mostly direct to owners. SwitcheOn, made by Malmoset LLC and distributed by Hartzell Preheat for the US only, is an LTE-M remote switch (2-channel 15 A $323, 4-channel) that runs on the Verizon network with the first year of service included and $50 a year after.
