About LEKTRO
LEKTRO builds electric towbarless aircraft tow tractors at 1190 SE Flightline Drive in Warrenton, Oregon. The line traces to 1945, when Willamette Aircraft & Engine Co., originally Electric Vehicles Inc., was founded, and the brand introduced its first all-electric towbarless tractor, the Airporter, in the 1960s. LEKTRO joined Oshkosh Corporation in 2023 and is now one of the brands of Oshkosh AeroTech, alongside Ranger, Jetway, JetAire and others. Tractors have been delivered to more than 100 countries.
The current towbarless range includes the LEKTRO 86, 87, 88, 88i and 89 plus military variants, covering aircraft from small piston planes at about 15,000 lbs up to the B757 at about 280,000 lbs. The 88i is rated to 120,000 lbs MTOW, is described as designed for airport ramps, hangars and FBO operations, and tows business aircraft and regional jets with a single operator using a cradle-and-strap nose-gear pickup. The 89 is the heavier model for airline narrow-body work. In January 2026 the 7,000th LEKTRO unit, an 88i, went to Atlantic Aviation at Miami/Opa-locka.
LEKTRO does not publish prices or battery specifications; buyers contact the Oshkosh AeroTech LEKTRO sales team or download a brochure. Options include an aircraft protection system that limits tractive force, dual fender controls, external chargers and snow-plow attachments. Onboard diagnostics and iOPS connectivity let fleet managers monitor battery condition and charging remotely.
