Michigan Business Aviation Association

The Michigan Business Aviation Association (MBAA) was founded in 1998 to maintain and expand airport infrastructure across Michigan, and lists an office on North Washington Square in Lansing. It advocates on airport infrastructure, air transport system capacity, security and other aviation issues at the local, regional and state level. Members include corporations and individuals that own, lease or operate aircraft, along with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, educators and students. The association credits itself with a key role in passing Michigan's Airport Safety and Protection (A.S.A.P.) plan in 2002, which it says put $70 million in state funds into airport projects over five years.

MBAA says the A.S.A.P. money leveraged about $860 million in federal funds and $70 million in local funds, supporting safety and development projects at more than 90 Michigan airports, the kind of infrastructure an FBO depends on. Its 2026 events included the MBAA/MBAF Golf Outing on June 5 and the Stryker Business Aviation Safety Forum on July 16, and its news page already lists dates in 2027. The Michigan Business Aviation Foundation, a partner organization, exists solely to fund scholarships and educational events for future business aviation professionals.

Membership tiers are published: Benefactor Premier at $5,000, with scholarship recognition; Benefactor at $4,000; Corporate Premier at $2,000, with company signage at the June golf event; Corporate at $1,000; Individual at $150; and Student at $25. MBAA estimates that about 11 percent of dues go to lobbying and are not tax-deductible. The site footer still carries a 2015 copyright, but its events pages were current when checked in October 2026.
