Midland Door Solutions

Midland Door Solutions was founded in 1995 as a sister company to Midland Garage Door, set up to build doors larger than the garage company could make, and took its current name in 2014. It is based in West Fargo, North Dakota, and describes itself as a national manufacturer of bifold and hydraulic doors for agricultural, commercial, architectural and aviation buildings. It handles design, fabrication, delivery, installation, electrical setup and calibration with its own crews, and says warranty coverage is better when Midland installs the door.

For hangars it offers bifold doors built from heavy-gauge steel tubing with a truss design for wind loading, and one-piece hydraulic doors with UL-listed control panels. Options include motorized and remote operation, insulation, weather seals, custom cladding and nylon lift straps in place of cables. It markets the doors to private hangars, FBOs, maintenance bays, regional airports and military sites, and offers retrofits that replace aging sliding doors with bifolds. The airport manager at Centerville Municipal Airport in Iowa is quoted on a sliding-to-bifold replacement.

Midland says most retrofits are installed within a few days once the opening has been assessed, and it advises against owner installation. Its FAQ gives one published price: converting an existing bifold from cables to nylon straps averages $2,000 to $3,000 including installation, depending on insulation, lining and the number of lift cables.
