Professional Pilot

Professional Pilot is a magazine for pilots, flight department managers and aviation executives, published from an office on Shawnee Road in Alexandria, Virginia. Its site says the magazine has served its readers for more than six decades. Murray Smith is listed as founder, Eleni Smith as president and chief executive, Anthony Herrera as general manager and Rafael Henriquez as managing editor. The site archives issues by month, the latest being October 2026, posts daily news items, and runs reader surveys on corporate flight departments, avionics and powerplants as well as aviation services.

For FBOs, the important product is PRASE (Preferences Regarding Aviation Services & Equipment), in which qualified Pro Pilot readers and operators rank aviation services. An October 2026 feature profiled the top five FBOs in the 2026 PRASE Survey: Monterey Jet Center held the number one slot, and Pro Pilot's 2026 PRASE winners page ranks Pentastar Aviation (PTK, Pontiac, Michigan) second, Texas Jet at Fort Worth Meacham third, Million Air Addison fourth and Banyan Air Service at Fort Lauderdale Executive fifth. The feature noted that pilots favored facilities near their destinations and that none of the winners was at a Class B airport. Voting for the 2027 PRASE is open on the site.

The site also runs an FBO section and articles on the FBO business. Subscription renewals and address changes are handled through an online portal; the site does not say whether subscriptions are free to qualified readers, and it does not publish advertising rates. For an FBO, the practical steps are making sure regular crews know when PRASE voting opens and tracking where the facility lands against competitors on the same field. Social channels found on the site are Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.
