Southern California Aviation Association

The Southern California Aviation Association (SCAA) was established in December 2006, growing out of the North County Community Airports Association and the San Diego Regional Aviation Association, and lists a mailing address on Rancho Bernardo Road in San Diego. It is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization. Its stated mission is to advance aviation-related business across Southern California, address concerns affecting the region's airports, including safety and operations, and educate communities and the public about business aviation. It describes its members as flight departments, pilots, FBOs, executives, manufacturers, maintenance shops, operators and aviation service providers.

The event record shows what an FBO gets from membership. SCAA held its Safety Stand Down in May 2025, its 19th Annual Golf Tournament and Benefit in September 2025, a sustainability roundtable with 4Air, a veteran workforce roundtable in March 2026, the SCAA Safety Standdown 2026 in May, lunch-and-learn briefings on jet engine and APU support in June, a 2026 annual general meeting and the 2nd Annual NorCal SoCal Corral in September 2026. Committees cover safety, including a SHARE roundtable for safety-data exchange, mentoring and career development, technical topics, leadership and special events.

Membership is priced by company size: $300 a year for corporate members with ten or more employees, $150 for small businesses of up to nine, $50 for individuals and $25 for students. Members get member pricing or free admission to events, a member directory, job postings and quarterly newsletters. SCAA says all proceeds from membership and events fund its scholarship program and local aviation advocacy; current awards include the Dave Ryan Memorial Safety Scholarship and a Career Level Up Scholarship.
