SchenkelShultz Architecture

SchenkelShultz was founded in 1958 by Dick Shultz and Jim Schenkel and has been headquartered in Winter Park, Florida, since 2024, with offices also listed in Orlando, Sarasota and Southwest Florida. J. Thomas Chandler led the firm as president and CEO from 1998 to 2020, when ownership passed to four partners from the next generation of leadership; the site does not name them. It is a general architecture practice, and its project list treats aviation as one of several core markets.

Its aviation work leans toward private terminals. Signature's Atlanta Executive Terminal and Hangars at Hartsfield-Jackson combines an FBO, a sports charter and VIP lounge, and an elite terminal with its own customs area beside a 12-bay hangar; the FBO and elite terminal are each LEED Silver. Other named projects are Signature executive terminals at Nashville and San Jose, the Orion Jet Center executive terminal and hangar at Miami-Opa Locka Executive, the Naples Airport general aviation terminal renovation, Marco Island Executive Terminal, the Ocean Reef Club private terminal and the Skybridge terminal and hangar.

Project pages describe architecture and interior scope in some detail, such as the landside canopy and art corridor at Atlanta and terrazzo logo inlays and an integrated airside hangar entry at Orion, but they do not give square footage, cost or completion dates. The aviation list also includes the Southwest Florida International terminal expansion and a renovation of a 1933 American Airlines hangar with new hangars. The firm does not publish fees and takes inquiries through its contact page.
