Shiny Jets

Shiny Jets is an aircraft detailing training company founded by Brett Berry, who cites more than 15 years of hands-on detailing on aircraft from vintage warbirds to ultra-long-range jets. Its hands-on courses run at Threshold Aviation on Chino Airport in Southern California; the site does not give a separate headquarters address. Two Register-listed detailers, Flight Deck Detail and JetGlow Aviation, say their technicians are Shiny Jets trained. Graduates receive a certificate, a listing in its certified detailer directory and a referral to an aviation insurance broker.

Training is sold at published prices on its store: a self-paced online masterclass at $2,000, a three-day Chino course at $4,995, a five-day hybrid program at $6,995, and on-site aircraft detailing training for corporate and FBO crews listed at $25,000. Its FAQ says on-site sessions run two to five days and that full FBO crew trainings usually take five. The curriculum covers washing, decontamination, paint correction, brightwork, ceramic coatings and interiors. It also sells an aircraft pricing tool from $29.95 that quotes detailing for more than 200 aircraft types, and a CRM for detailing businesses.

Its product line, Fly Shiny, is sold through flyshiny.com and includes Quick Turn waterless dry wash, from $14.95 for 16 ounces ready to use, a concentrate it says makes more than 160 gallons, bug and exhaust-soot removers, a citrus degreaser, staged aluminum polishes, an antistatic spray wax and a ceramic coating. For FBOs deciding whether to train line staff to detail in-house rather than hire out, this is the training and supply side of the category rather than a detailing crew.
