Sunset Aviation Insurance is an independently owned aviation broker with offices on Southern Boulevard at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Florida. Founder and CEO Ben Peterson studied commercial aviation at the University of North Dakota, instructed for Cirrus Aircraft, and started the company in 2012 after a 2010 layoff, phoning flight departments to offer them insurance savings. The firm says it has since served hundreds of clients worldwide and names airlines, corporate jets, helicopters, aviation workers' compensation, FBOs, charter companies, manufacturers and maintenance companies as its specialties.

Its FBO page defines the business broadly, from line service and maintenance to parts sales, aircraft sales, charter, flight training and repair stations, and lists the primary coverages as aircraft hull and liability, airport premises liability, hangarkeepers legal liability, and products and completed operations liability. It explains that an FBO's airport liability policy is a form of aviation commercial general liability and that aircraft the FBO operates for charter or business need their own hull and liability cover. Separate pages cover airport liability, MRO insurance, aviation cyber liability, products liability and aviation workers' compensation.

Sunset does not publish premiums; buyers schedule a meeting or request a quote online, and the site offers an aircraft valuation page. Testimonials come from charter, aircraft sales and flight department clients rather than FBOs. Peterson writes a recurring Aircraft Insurance Outlook market column on the site, most recently in September 2026. One testimonial claims a relationship of more than 15 years, which predates the 2012 founding stated elsewhere on the site.
