Virginia Aviation Business Association

The Virginia Aviation Business Association (VABA) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit that calls itself the voice of aviation business in Virginia. It lists an office in The Ironfronts Building on East Main Street in Richmond. Its mission is to develop aeronautical businesses in the Commonwealth, improve general aviation and regional airports and their infrastructure, represent the industry before the Virginia legislature and support airport and flight safety. Its board, chaired since January 2026 by Greggory Hodge of AvDyne AeroServices, includes Reese Meyer, FBO general manager at Vantage Aviation at Richmond Executive Airport, a NetJets government affairs manager and the executive director of the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission.

VABA describes its services as advocacy, education, research, business promotion and networking. Its government affairs team tracks issues that affect aviation businesses, meets with elected and appointed officials through the year, and holds forums with members twice a year to hear what is affecting their operations. The main event is the Aviation, Aerospace and Advanced Air Mobility Legislative Reception in Richmond; the 2026 reception was on February 4 at Main Street Station, and the 2027 reception is set for February 2, 2027, with sponsorships on sale. The site also links to the legislature's Aviation and Aerospace Caucus and a contact-your-legislator page.

For FBOs at Virginia's general aviation and regional airports, VABA is the group focused on state policy and airport infrastructure rather than flight operations. Its member forums give an FBO a direct channel to raise state tax, funding and regulatory issues, and the legislative reception puts sponsors in front of legislators and state agency staff in one evening. Sponsorship tiers for the reception run from friend to platinum. The public membership page does not list dues, and the site publishes a newsletter and an industry news page.
