Flight Safety Foundation

Flight Safety Foundation is an international non-profit organization, founded in 1945 and headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, that describes itself as exclusively chartered to provide impartial, independent, expert safety guidance and resources for the aviation and aerospace industry. It represents more than 1,000 member organizations and individuals in 150 countries and runs a regional office in Melbourne, Australia.

Its programs include the Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS), SKYbrary, the Aviation Safety Network, the Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation Safety and an awards and scholarship program. For business aviation the Foundation organizes the annual Business Aviation Safety Summit (BASS) in partnership with the National Business Aviation Association and NATA — the 72nd BASS is Apr 20–21, 2027 in Tampa — alongside the International Aviation Safety Summit (IASS) for the airline sector.
