Total FBO

Total FBO is one of the oldest products in this category. The software was first written in 1987 in answer to a flight school's request for aviation-specific business software, and its publisher, Horizon Business Concepts, Inc. of Merrimack, New Hampshire, was established the following spring. It moved through six major versions between 1988 and 2009 — Windows by version 3, a SQL database by version 4, PCI compliance and expanded shop, inventory, and charter features by version 6 — and company materials from that era claim more than 1,500 installations in the United States and Canada, with others in South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Ownership has changed twice. AHT Services, a technology subsidiary of World Fuel Services, acquired Horizon Business Concepts in August 2011. In March 2024, World Kinect (the renamed World Fuel Services) sold its FBO software portfolio to CAMP Systems International, a Hearst company; totalfbo.com now runs under CAMP, which groups Total FBO with FBO One (its international counterpart), CORRIDOR, Quantum, and FlightBridge as connected businesses, and in 2026 began marketing the FBO products under the CAMP Aviate umbrella. Total FBO is also one of the point-of-sale options in Phillips 66 Aviation's EPOS program.

The published module list covers GAAP-compliant double-entry accounting with work-in-progress posting and accrual reversals, a front counter that shows ramp activity, reservations, and tail-number lookups, fuel tracking, invoicing and card processing, a scheduler for aircraft, instructors, conference rooms, and charter, flight-school and charter modules, shop and maintenance, personnel, and reporting, with a multi-location customer database for chains. Total FBO Next-Gen is the cloud product, hosted on Amazon Web Services and refined with feedback from more than 100 participating FBOs; it automates fuel-inventory updates and invoicing, tokenizes card data, and integrates with TCS meters, FlightBridge, and QuickBooks Desktop.
