Staffing & Recruiting

Where FBOs hire: contract A&P and avionics staffing for the shop, recruiters and executive search for GMs and leaders, and the aviation job boards where line and CSR roles get filled.

19 listedProfessional Services

Most of an FBO's hiring is line service technicians and customer service representatives, and very few staffing firms say they place them. Of the firms on this page, only Aviation Search Group, Strom Aviation and APA Services name FBOs as a market on their own sites, and Total Aviation Staffing publishes case studies for Million Air and Elliott Aviation. Line and front-desk roles are mostly filled direct, through job boards; staffing agencies earn their fee on the harder hires, A&P and avionics technicians for an FBO's maintenance shop and the general manager or director seat.

The listings fall into three groups. Contract technician staffing, where the agency employs the mechanic and handles payroll, insurance and screening: LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions, VP Aviation (including AOG mobile response teams), Strom Aviation, APA Services, Aviation Personnel, STS Technical Services, Reliance Aerotech Services and Hire Aviation, which also lists ground-operations and customer-service roles. Recruiting and executive search for permanent hires: Aviation Search Group (which lists FBO and airport as expertise areas and has been a LAUNCH company since 2025), Aviation Personnel International (business-aviation flight departments since 1971), Aviation Recruiting, Total Aviation Staffing and Jet Aviation Staffing.

Job boards are the third group and the only one that publishes prices. JSfirm has a dedicated Line Service category; Avjobs sells subscriptions from $149 a month; the NBAA Career Center starts at $299 for business-aviation postings; the AAAE Career Center charges $260 for a 30-day post for members and $380 for non-members and skews to airport operations jobs. Women in Aviation International's annual conference is also one of the industry's largest career fairs. Every fact on this page comes from the firm's own site on the date shown on its listing.

Questions about staffing & recruiting

Where do FBOs hire line service technicians and CSRs?
Mostly direct. JSfirm runs a Line Service job category alongside its ground and fueling roles, and Avjobs and the NBAA Career Center carry business- and general-aviation postings. Among staffing firms, Strom Aviation and APA Services list FBOs as client segments, and Hire Aviation lists customer service and ground-operations staffing; the rest of the agencies here concentrate on maintenance technicians and leadership searches.
How does contract A&P staffing work for an FBO maintenance shop?
The agency recruits the technician and carries them on its payroll while they work at your shop, then bills you a rate that covers wages and its margin. Contract-to-hire lets you convert the technician later; direct hire is a one-time placement. Strom Aviation says its employers can choose a percentage markup, set bill rates or an individual rate schedule, and that it handles payroll taxes, background checks and liability and workers' compensation coverage. LAUNCH, VP Aviation, APA Services, Aviation Personnel and STS Technical Services all offer contract and direct-hire terms.
What does an aviation staffing agency cost?
Agencies don't publish rates. Total Aviation Staffing says employers pay nothing until a hire matches the job's requirements, and Aviation Personnel offers a no-placement, no-fee guarantee; contract staffing is priced as a bill rate or markup on the technician's pay. Job boards do publish prices: Avjobs plans run $149 to $399 a month or $349 to $1,699 a year, a 30-day AAAE Career Center post is $260 for members and $380 for non-members, and NBAA Career Center products start at $299.
Who recruits FBO general managers and leadership?
Aviation Search Group lists FBO and airport among its expertise areas and runs retained executive search and direct-hire placement. Aviation Personnel International runs a six-stage search process for business-aviation leadership roles; Aviation Recruiting and Reliance Aerotech Services offer executive search; Jet Aviation Staffing places operations, sales and executive staff, though its parent also operates FBOs.
Can a staffing firm send mechanics for an AOG on my ramp?
VP Aviation fields Mobile Response Teams for AOG recovery and special projects, and LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions runs Aviation TEAMS mobile repair crews and a Part 145 repair station. Both are oriented to MROs and airlines, so confirm availability for a business aircraft at your field.
Do aviation staffing firms handle drug testing and background checks?
Several say so. Aviation Personnel runs background checks, license verification and FAA-required drug and alcohol testing under 14 CFR Part 120 and 49 CFR Part 40, and is an E-Verify employer; APA Services has an in-house team for FAA and DOT compliance; Strom Aviation handles compliance and background checks for its contractors. Ask any agency which screening is included in its rate.
Where are airport operations jobs posted?
The AAAE Career Center is the job board of the American Association of Airport Executives, and its listings come mostly from airport authorities and city and county airports: operations agents and duty officers, security, maintenance and ARFF roles. GA airport sponsors hiring an airport manager can also use the executive-search firms above; Aviation Search Group publishes an airport manager placement.
